Call Assistance: The Role of ABPS

American Baptist Personnel Services (ABPS) provides a "clearinghouse" service for churches and ministers. Ministers who participate in ABPS submit information in a format which allows the production of a "profile" which can be subjected to computer services.

The appropriate Regional Associate Minister (the one assigned to serve the Area in which the searching church is located) will order the computer search and deliver the resulting profile to the search committee.

ABPS profiles which are presented to search committees come primarily from four sources:

1. A computer search on the basis of needs, goals, and criteria submitted by the search committee.

2. Suggestions from the GRR Staff.

3. Specific requests from the search committee.

4. Candidates who ask that their name be submitted to that church.
