The Staff of the Great Rivers Region has assembled these review pages of all ECurrent mailings. If you have missed one, or misplaced one, you can find it here.

All will be available with two exceptions. Those who would send unsolicitated email - the hated SPAM - use software devices such as "crawlers" to seek out every email address posted on the net. Therefore, ECurrent mailings containing such will be noted by date, but access will require a request for an email from the Resource Center staff that would contain this information. The other exception will provide an opportunity for your church to request the listing of your church's specific mission giving by emailing the GRR Resource Center.

In 2002 the Staff of the Resource Center of American Baptist Churches, Great Rivers Region, began sending the Current by email. The Current is the GRR's channel of information for news, events, resources, and services of GRR churches, GRR gatherings, and affiliated organizations and ministries. All Current materials except for third party writings that require royalty payments for distribution are included in the e-mailing (the ECurrent) of the Current. These writings are distributed by US Mail as the Pastor's Mailing.

Advantages of the ECurrent:

  1. More timely. When an event, service, or resource has an annouced date, immediate notice can be sent out. Registration forms can be sent out early, printed out in multiples, filled out and mailed back in.
  2. Better stewardship: Hours of work by many staff, thousands of pieces of paper, and preparation for USPS are now reduced for more effective, if not efficient, communication.

Challenges of the ECurrent:

  1. Email addresses must be kept up-to-date. This responsibility is shared between the GRR Resource Center Staff and the person who would receive the ECurrent.
  2. Virus threats must be reduced. For this reason all attachments are sent in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format. For these challenges see Dwight Stinnett's article.
  3. Those wanting to have their service, event, or resource sent out as an ECurrent edition must submit their material in electronic form. Scanning increases significantly the file size of an ECurrent edition.
