Max is the senior Area Minister. The title is now GRR Associate Minister assigned to Area II. Max has witnessed the change of his title from Area Minister to GRR Associate Minister. The reason the title is now GRR Associate Minister, is to stress that all Staff members are servants of all the churches of the GRR though the greater part of any the Area Minister’s time is to be available to the churches and professional church leaders of her / his assigned area. The remainder of the “portfolio” is assigned by the Regional Executive Minister and Ministry Board.

Max grew up Southern Baptist. He greatly appreciates American Baptist’s keeping of the Baptist Distinctives that have helped so many Christians throughout the years live focused on Christ in spite of social and political pressures that must be dealt with. The Lord is moving Max more and more into use of his gifts of discernment. He looks for more involvement in helping Christians, especially professional church leaders, into an understanding of more intentional spiritual growth through “spiritual direction.” What we do must be grounded in prayer and in our relationship with the world if we are not to be swept away by the busy-ness and materialism of this world.
