Capital Issues

Building Needs Assessment: American Baptist Extension Corporation

One first step would be to find a person who has not been in your building to come in and tour it. Give that person permission to take notes and report to you what she/he finds as to accessibility ("user-friendliness"), atmosphere ("warmth" level), and any other feedback that the person can give. Report this to those whose task it is in your church. Have these folk then look again. The American Baptist Extension Corporation will send a representative to you to tour the building and grounds and make recommendations. This representative will not try to sell you a building design - ABEC is not in that business.
Planning a New Building: Again - American Baptist Extension Corporation
Start with someone as neutral as possible. Then start researching contractors by talking to members of churches who have recently built.
Funding the Rehab and/or New Building: John Grisham
John is prepared to talk with you about the first steps in capital fund raising. He is also available to be your coach if the target of your capital fund drive is $250,000 or less. If it is more, John will quickly refer you to capital specialists that he knows to hold to highest ethical practices. No, there is no charge for John's service. This is one of the services that you invest in when you give to United Mission and the America for Christ Offering.
